Each April, the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc, holds its annual meeting to conduct official business of the organization, to enjoy the company of fellow Connecticut gardeners and to hear a program or presentation. Outstanding vendors have products for sale of interest to gardeners and floral designers. In odd years, the slate of new Federation officers is presented to the membership.
Our Annual Meeting on April 18, 2018 featured speaker. Karen Bussolini, nationally renowned garden photographer, writer, speaker, and eco-friendly garden coach. She gave a very thought-provoking presentation about how to “Naturescape Your Yard.” Naturescaping is landscaping with nature – attracting and sustaining wildlife, using native and well-adapted plants, using resources wisely and avoiding environmental pollution.
The demonstration of new abstracting techniques by several Judges Council members was extremely popular. Demonstrations included abstracting of plant material, leaf manipulation and the latest trend in the use of fiber arts in design.
