The CAES Valley Laboratory in Windsor was initially constructed in 1921, making this year the 100th anniversary of this important facility. Interested members of the public are invited to attend on Thursday, September 2, 2021, when an on-site celebration of the anniversary will occur and include formal presentations by CAES scientific staff, posters at experimental plots, and question/answer tents. There will be opportunities to interact with the scientists and learn about the history of the important scientific work being conducted by this venerable institution. Programs specifically for both tobacco and Christmas tree growers will be included, as well as a hopyard tour and a forest management tour. Pesticide re-certification credits will be available. Food and refreshments will be provided. A ceremonial groundbreaking for the recently approved $17.8 million renovation and new construction project for the Valley Laboratory may also be featured. The program will run from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and conclude with a trip to the Back East Brewery.
