The Entomology Department of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) announces a pollinator habitat workshop at Blueberry Hill Organic Farm, 314 Margaret Henry Rd in Danielson on Monday Aug 20th 5:00-6:30. Rain Date is Aug 21.
Virginia Keith, certified organic farmer in Danielson is hosting this pollinator habitat workshop on her farm, highlighting how she established the flowering resources for pollinators and other beneficial insects, what benefits she has seen in her yield of vegetables and small fruit, and other benefits to the health of her farm. Bill Purcell of NRCS will discuss how NRCS can support farms in developing pollinator habitat and other conservation measures.
Kim Stoner,CAES entomologist specializing in bees, will also speak about what species of bees are most involved n crop pollination, their life cycles and how farms can support the bees.
The tour is open to all. Preregistration is $15. Space is limited.
