The Four Star program, begun by NGC in 2003, and the Five Star Program begun later, are designed to recognize significant individual achievements in the NGC Schools curriculum and to encourage ongoing education. The program entitles this small minority of eligible members to be recognized by NGC and The Federation. Four and Five Star Members receive a special certificate and are eligible to purchase special lapel pins.
FOUR STAR MEMBERSHIP
To achieve Four Star Membership, a garden club member must complete the curricula for all four National Garden Club Schools. Four Star Members complete sixteen courses, pass the required exams and fulfill the requirements to become an accredited NGC Flower Show Judge.

FIVE STAR MEMBERSHIP
The NGC five star program, created to encourage ongoing education, is achieved by fulfilling all requirements of Four Star Membership plus acquiring Master Status in each of the four NGC Schools. That means a lot of refresher courses!
Jacqueline Connell, Barbara Deysson, and Jeanette Barrows are the three Connecticut members who have achieved Five Star membership.
