The Garden Club of Orange Wraps Up a Year of Celebration!
On June 10th, the Garden Club of Orange came together at the Racebrook Country Club for a delightful annual luncheon, wrapping up a wonderful series of celebrations and community service. Members,
distinguished guests, and local dignitaries gathered to celebrate the club’s rich history and its ongoing dedication to the town of Orange. First Selectman James Zeoli joyfully proclaimed June 10th, 2025, as Garden Club of Orange Day! Kelle Ruden, First Vice President of the Federated Garden Club, and Patrick O’Sullivan, former town clerk and grandson of the club’s founder, were there to honor this special milestone.
Among the exciting highlights from the club’s year-long celebration was the creation of a beautiful memorial garden at the historic Stone Otis House, dedicated to the cherished memories of past members whose contributions have shaped the club’s legacy. The club also proudly awarded a $1,000 scholarship for a graduating senior from Amity Senior High in Orange, continuing its tradition of supporting local youth and education.
The luncheon was also a heartfelt moment of transition, as outgoing president Sandra Horling received warm thanks for her dedicated leadership. Members enthusiastically welcomed incoming president Betty Hallock, who is excited to continue the club’s mission of fostering community and nurturing a love for gardening.
Stepping Out in Style in Orange …
The Garden Club of Orange had a fantastic time marching in the town’s Memorial Day Parade! Can you believe they’ve been around since 1930? They handmade different type of flowers out of paper to decorate their float in fabulous colors.
The members get together every month to share their love for design and
gardening. They also take care of the lovely garden at the Stone Otis House, plant cheerful flowers on the town green, and even provide beautiful wreaths for the town buildings during the holidays. Plus, they enjoy working with youth and senior groups, spreading joy and knowledge all around our community.
