“Spring into Connecticut” Showcase your Creativity in the Botanical Arts

16 December 2019

The 2017 Handbook for Flower Shows created a new division for shows—Botanical Arts. This Division IV in our 2020 show, called “Spring Sunshine and Showers,” allows our members to show their creativity in exciting ways, including Artistic Crafts and Photography.

The Artistic Crafts Section A “Transformations” has three classes that let you transform an everyday item, be it a bird house, hat, or jewelry, using all natural materials. You’ll be competing for the Botanical Arts Artistic Crafts Award. If you’d like to dazzle the show attendees by entering, please contact Artistic Crafts Chair, Lynda Brown at 860-205-6307 or acraftschair@ctgardenclubs.org.  Advance Registration is required by Friday, 1-31-2020.

The Photography Section B “A Sense of Place” has six classes designed to showcase the beauty of our state. From plants like oaks, rhododendron and mountain laurel, to birds, insects, amphibians and spiders even to our surrounding rocks and water … the photography classes are very broad and diverse!

Share your vision of these worlds and compete for the Connecticut Photography Award, the Botanical Arts Photography Award and the Cheryl Collins Photography Awards. Rules and class descriptions are on the last page of the show schedule.

There is still time to scroll through your photographs and pick one to enter. Don’t have one? Grab that camera and head outdoors! Photography classes 1, 3 , 5 and 6 are still open.

If you have any questions, Photography Chair Renee Marsh will be glad to help you through the process. Renee will also handle submissions via mail to save you the trip to Hartford, so no excuses there. Please contact her at photographychair@ctgardenclubs.org or 203-926-0021.

We’ll look forward to seeing you in February!
